Huntsville’s Salty Nut Brewery closing at the end of July

A brewery formed more than 10 years ago in north Alabama will close its doors at the end of the month.

Salty Nut Brewery, located at 2404 Clinton Ave. in Huntsville, is closing on July 31. In a Facebook post on Friday, the business thanked everybody who has been in over the years and invited them to visit one last time before they close for good.

“Hey there Huntsville; thank you for the fantastic years we’ve spent together at Salty Nut,” the post read. “We’d be honored if you joined us one last time to enjoy a Salty brew, so roll through and let’s go out with a bang!”

Salty Nut Brewery was formed back in 2011 and bought by Straight to Ale, another Huntsville brewery, in 2020. At the time of the purchase, Straight to Ale said that the purchase was “an effort to support the local craft beer scene while helping an important venue in the Huntsville community flourish.”

The owner of Salty Nut and Straight to Ale didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Saturday.

Many lovers of the brewery took to the comments to express their disbelief and shock over the closure, as well as to share fond memories of their favorite place.

“So sad to hear that you guys are closing, there are lots of good memories here for me,” said David Hewitt, who lives in Huntsville.

Instagram user @jowow22 had numerous crying emojis in their Instagram comment on the business’ page.

“One of the good breweries in AL. Very sad about this,” the user said.
